Hard to believe 2020 is coming to an end. It's been a challenging year to say the least! The ups and downs of the year led us all into new territory.

I won't claim the Chamber had any special clairvoyance when it came to 2020, but our plan for the year, to reach out and connect virtually both with our members and the Lorton/Fairfax community seemed to fit perfectly with what the year dealt all of us.

We revamped our membership offerings and changed from a one-time Lifetime/Legacy membership to a Sustaining Membership with multiple levels to fit any size business. So far, it is going well but please reach out to your fellow business owners to see if they might benefit from what the Chamber has to offer.

Legacy members were offered the opportunity to switch to an annual Sustaining Membership or opt in to the Premier Technology & Marketing Program (PTMP- 30% discount for current members ends this month!). Both options offer new benefits to current members. I urge you to check out the details under the Membership tab on the website.

Speaking of our website, kudos to Kevin Tracy for facilitating a facelift! The new website offers the latest info for members on the landing page. I urge you all to check out the Calendar section and post your events. We also have a blog tab which is updated regularly. Check your own business listings to make sure everything is up to date.

Lastly, one of our goals for 2020 was to reach out virtually. I am very proud of the monthly webinars we've offered. Our most recent one was a Town Hall to discuss distance learning. We've also had great success with providing informational webinars on the Payroll Protection Program. Other webinars covered tips for reopening businesses and getting the most out of your social media. Which brings me to probably our biggest change for the year, stepping up our social media presence. If you haven't connected with us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn do so now! We have grown our audiences in every platform and we are looking to share member news with the Lorton/Fairfax community.

We don't know what the new year will bring but I can tell you, the South Fairfax Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to expanding our membership base while connecting with and promoting our current business members.

Stay safe and Happy Holidays,
