SFCC Newsletter / November 2021 Chairman's Note Casey Whitmarsh
One of the best parts of being your Chamber Chair is the opportunity to meet local business owners. The SFCC's networking S.T.I.R. events allow current Chamber members to not only interact with each other but also to meet and welcome potential new members. Our most recent networking S.T.I.R. brought in representatives from several veteran and military spouse owned businesses. We invited Hiring Our Heroes Senior Director Adam Rocke as our featured speaker. Many military veterans call northern Virginia home, and many seek to work or start their own businesses here after retiring or separating from active duty. Veterans understand teamwork. They are efficient and definitely know how to perform under pressure. Any business owner would be lucky to hire a vet. Going forward, the Chamber is looking to host more networking S.T.I.R. events but we need your support. Put those dates on your calendar and help us in welcoming potential new members. We've been fortunate to be able to attract sponsors for our most recent get togethers. Look for additional sponsorship opportunities in 2022. You can also help by inviting your colleagues and fellow business owners to join us. We look forward to meeting new people from the community each month.
The Chamber is proud to be able to support the South County High School Athletic Boosters by purchasing a Chamber ad in their seasonal sports programs. The good news for you is, as an SFCC member business, you can purchase a logo spot for your business on the Chamber's full page ad! See below for more details and reserve your spot today by emailing Executive Director Carla Olivo at ExecDirector@SouthFairfaxChamber.org.
It is the time for Thanksgiving and this year I am grateful the Chamber has been able to provide safe, socially distanced opportunities for you all to network in person. I am also very thankful for the SFCC Board and our Events Committee who work hard to bring opportunity to all our members.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Casey Whitmarsh
