Casey Whitmarsh SFCC Chair |
| November is a month of giving thanks and this year I have a lot to be grateful for both personally and professionally. As your Chamber Chair, I am truly appreciative of the Chamber Board. These individuals take time away from their professional lives each and every month to keep our Chamber active and vital in the community. They spend many hours thinking about ways the Chamber can better serve you, its members.
A lot of time and effort goes into each program we present whether it's a networking event, an open house, a webinar, or one of our many community events. Our Events Committee in particular has worked very hard to facilitate in-person events in the wake of Covid. Terry Head, Tom Repczynski, and Carla Olivo have done an outstanding job of providing members with ample opportunity to grow their network, make vital connections, and serve the people of the Lorton, Fairfax Station, Burke, Mason Neck, and Clifton communities.

Upcoming events are an example of the variety of opportunities available to all SFCC members. On November 9 we will gather at the Laurel Hill Golf Center to honor our Veteran and Military Spouse Chamber members while running a clothing drive on behalf of Boots to Suits, a charitable organization who provides professional clothing to those transitioning out of military service. Please go through your closets and mark your calendars to drop off donations between 5:30p-8p on Nov 9. You can also purchase new clothing to donate or make a cash donation. If you are a veteran or a military spouse, please email our Executive Director Carla Olivo at SFCCExecDirector@gmail.com so you can be acknowledged during the evenings' festivities.
December 3 is a huge day for the Chamber. We will be hosting a booth at the 17th annual Lorton Holiday Extravaganza and sponsoring the Vendor Appreciation Breakfast. We look forward to meeting all 180 vendors and sharing the benefits of chamber membership with them. We are also hosting a Blood Drive that day with Inova Blood Services, a SFCC Sustaining Member. I urge you to register to donate blood if you can, as blood supplies are dangerously low across the region.
There is a lot going on with the Chamber over the next few weeks. I encourage you to participate when you can to get the most out of your chamber membership. Also, see details below on some great marketing opportunities for your business. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Casey Whitmarsh SFCC Chair Casey@CaseyWhitmarsh.com |

| The SFCC was pleased to participate in the recent Tour de Mount Vernon.
We had several chamber members riding in the race and several who helped us host the water stops at Gunston Hall and the US Army Museum. It was a beautiful fall day and a perfect day for this popular community event. |

SALUTE TO VETERANS NOVEMBER S.T.I.R. |
Our annual Salute to Veterans is set for Wednesday, November 9 at the Laurel Hill Golf Club. This year, we are partnering with Boots to Suits, a nonprofit which assists veterans transitioning to civilian careers. Those attending the S.T.I.R. are asked to bring the following donations:
• Current Style Blazers, Sport Coats, & Suiting • Dress Pants & Khakis • New or Very Gently Used Dress Shirts (White or Light Blue) • Ties, Belts, and Gently Used or New Shoes • Women's Interview Appropriate Dresses, Separates
All items must be dry cleaned or freshly laundered. Donations should be current styles, clean and in excellent condition. Some Vets leave their Boots to Suits fitting appointments and go straight to their interview. You may also make a tax-deductible donation to Boots to Suits.
