Like many of our member businesses, the Chamber has had to pivot at times in the aftermath of the pandemic. With fewer businesses opening in the South Fairfax area, we've had to be creative with revenue streams as a strategic approach to building resilience, sustaining growth, and staying relevant in an ever-changing business landscape. We've had to adapt, explore new opportunities, and maximize our potential, in an effort to achieve long-term success.

Relying on a single source of revenue, namely our sustaining annual memberships, carries some risk in light of Covid. Developing alternative revenue streams to diversify our income sources, reduces our economic vulnerability.

We have to carefully balance our growth to be able to sustain the Chamber and the benefits it offers to our members. We could put all our efforts into adding new members which would increase revenue, but we need the staffing to support it.

Our volunteer Board works hard to facilitate member benefits such as networking events and sponsor opportunities, but they can be stretched thin at times with their own responsibilities to their businesses and families.

Revenue streams other than membership dues include sponsorships, ad purchases and ticket sales for Chamber-hosted events. For these revenue streams to be successful we rely on you, our Chamber members to participate and support.

Current sponsorship opportunities include the upcoming November Networking STIR at the Laurel Hill Golf Club. Having sponsors for this event allows us to gather to welcome our newest members and honor those members who are military veterans or military spouses. Join us for light refreshments while we network. Those interested in joining as a sponsor, email our Executive Director Carla Olivo at SFCCExecDirector@gmail.com.

Another opportunity for brand awareness for SFCC members is the South County Athletic Booster (SCABA) Winter Sports Program. Each year, the Chamber purchases full page ads in the seasonal sports programs to support the SCABA and all they do for our local high school athletes. These programs are seen by thousands in the community who attend SCHS games and tournaments throughout the year.  The Chamber offers our members the opportunity to purchase logo space on our ad for a fraction of the cost if they purchased their own ad in the program.

We also sponsor the Vendor Appreciation Breakfast for the Lorton Holiday Extravaganza. This sponsorship allows us to meet 190 local small business owners at a single event and introduce them to the many benefits of a Chamber membership. We offset the cost of sponsorship by offering Chamber members the opportunity to be represented on the welcome sign at the breakfast, in the Chamber's booth at the Extravaganza and on the full-page color insert which goes into Chamber-branded shopping bags handed to shoppers as they come through the door. This allows our members to reach the 3,000+ people who attend the event without incurring their own cost of sponsorship.

Please take a look at these marketing opportunities to see where you might be able to increase your brand visibility and customer engagement while supporting the Chamber and all it offers you as a member.

Warm regards,
