At the South Fairfax Chamber, our mission is not to be the largest Chamber in Fairfax County, but to be the most impactful for our members. We are committed to providing local businesses with opportunities to connect, grow, and thrive in our community.
To continue offering valuable networking events and brand awareness through digital marketing—without increasing membership dues—we rely on fundraising efforts that also create marketing opportunities for our members. Your support in these initiatives is crucial.
Sponsoring a SFCC networking STIR offers great visibility with our membership as well as the local South Fairfax Community. Most of our networking events are offered with complimentary admission. In order to do this, the Chamber depends on member sponsors. |

The upcoming Salute to Service in November, an annual celebration of our military, veterans, first responders and their families is a great opportunity for sponsorship. Sponsors for the evening will enjoy weekly digital promotion across the Chamber's four social media platforms as well promotion on our website. You will have the opportunity to briefly address those in attendance at the event as well display swag at our Brand Awareness table or offer a take-home item to attendees.
We've participated in the Lorton Holiday Extravaganza for several years. It is a great opportunity to interact with the local community while offering our members exposure. This year we came up with a fun idea to both raise funds and include member businesses. Consider sponsoring one of our decorative themed trees! Are you a travel business? Consider sponsoring our 'Another Day in Paradise' tree. Calling all realtors for our 'Gingerbread House' tree. Maybe you are big Commander's fan or a Stallion fan and would be interested in sponsoring a "Spirit' tree. We are open to all ideas!
Remember, the true value of your Chamber membership lies in your active participation. The more you engage with the opportunities we offer, the greater your return on investment. We have some exciting opportunities available right now, designed to help you grow your business and connect with other local businesses and the community.
Please consider how you can contribute to the Chamber’s efforts so that we can keep delivering the support and resources you need to succeed.
Hope to see everyone at our next STIR on Sept 17 at Taco Rock! Casey Whitmarsh SFCC Chair Casey@CaseyWhitmarsh.com |

FAIRFAX COUNTY MEALS TAX PROPOSAL |
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors is considering a new tax on all prepared food in the County. On May 21, 2024, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors voted along party lines (9-1) to study the implementation of a new tax on prepared food. If enacted, the proposed tax could be as high as an additional 6% on these items. The tax would apply to all restaurant food and beverages, prepared food at grocery and convenience stores, salad bars, food trucks and more. There is already a 6% tax on these items in Fairfax, with the new tax added in, prepared food could be subject to a tax as much as 12%.
The South Fairfax Chamber of Commerce is currently polling its membership to see if the Chamber should support or oppose the measure.
